Father's Day is a day to pull out the stops and celebrate in this house. Both Adam and myself have been very blessed in the father department. We have incredible grandfather, father and godfathers (whether adopted or not) in our lives. While all of us in this life have a father, not everyone can truly celebrate this day the way we can, and for that we are so lucky!
Now Adam has joined the ranks of a father in this family and he's doing a damn fine job of keeping up the tradition. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of seeing Olan's face when Adam walks into the room, it's a killer. Nothing brings that boy so much joy, nothing. He loves his dad deeply, completely and contentedly. I always bring Olan into bed with us once he wakes up and then we all roll around and come to the surface slowly and gently. Olan always flip from one side to the other watching both of our faces. When he sees Adam's eyes first start to crack open, his little legs start pumping and his arms start waving... he knows that he's about to be showered in kisses and hugs, the anticipation drives him wild.
So today we celebrate. Adam has scurried off to the course early this morning, his one father's day wish. We'll meet up with him later. I'm about to call my most wonderfulest dad to see what he would like to do today. Then tonight we'll have a fantabulous big meal and raise a glass to all the greatest greats, past and present and future.
