My son the cross dresser

My mom wants me to put the title in quotation marks because Olan's not REALLY a "cross dresser". I don't know, you take a look at the pictures :)

The fun continues here. We had a playdate with a few other moms and babes at my place this morning. It was really fun. Olan and Isabelle were happy to socialize as per usual. It was sweet to see Olan look across at Isabelle with a different look then he gave the other kids, like he knows her better, he knows she's his cousin part of his little family. Kills me!

Then we did some shopping, came back to the parents, lathered the kids in sunscreen only to realize that Dad had taken off with the car which had Isabelle's stroller and carrier in it. So what else could we do but dress Olan in one of Isabelle's dresses? My mother of course was horrified and continues to insist that Olan looked embarrassed. I personally think that he found wearing a dress quite comfy, and what a cute little bonnet!

We just enjoyed some lamb burgers on the new pc thin buns- holy moses are those ever good! I'm heading out to lounge on the deck with the smokers. Have a good night y'all.

Happy Birthday...

to my fantablulous wonderful Dad!!! Wooohooooo, start the party!!!

Haaappy Birrrthdaay toooo youuuu,
Haaappy Birrrthdaay toooo youuuu,
Haaappy Birrrthdaaaay tooo Daaaaaaaaad,
Haaappy Birrrthdaay toooo you!
Hooray!

We got to spend the day with the birthday man himself, who requested a trip to Peggy's Cove. We hadn't been in forever and it was nice to go before the hordes of tourists descend. It's also not too long a trip for the babes, which was nice of him to consider even though it's HIS day :)

So we tripped around, took some pictures, and then took the scenic drive home. Now Mom and Dad have gone off for a luxurious dinner for two, though the romance will end at the front door since I have a sneaking suspicion that they will find Alyson, Meredith and Isabelle curled up in their bed when they get home. The big flat screen is such a lure :)

Even though this is the official birthday post I would like to add that Olan received a LOVELY package from his godparents today. I'll take some pictures of what it contained but for now he'd like me to send a great big thank you to Jared and Katie who are visiting Vancouver (hopefully they brought a raft with them?). Thanks guys, it fits perfectly!

A lovely day all in all and the weather cooperated which was even nicer. Now I'm off to tubland with my book.

Don't worry, there's pictures this time

I know that the last post just seemed like a teaser but I didn't have the camera cable with me. We're home for the night so I figured that I'd better give you a bunch to tide you over, the posting might get a bit thin later in the week.

My party day was a blast. We did some shopping, went to the land to collect the boys (who were happily playing camp and had no intention of ever leaving), went to my favourite tomato greenhouse to get a summer supply and then back to the house for a DELICIOUS meal of blackened halibut, haddock, tuna and salmon... also fiddleheads and bbq veggies followed by the most incredible chocolately macadamia cake. Yummers, yummers, yummers. I also got totally spoiled in the gift department, totally.

Olan and I have been having such a good time with Aly and Isabelle. I could watch those two babies interact all day, it's hilarious. They will pass a toy back and forth, try to kiss each other, explore each others feet and hands.

Our little happy boy

This kid can't get enough of playing in the grass, and clearly I can't get enough of taking his picture :)

Happy cousins together again

Out for coffee

Are they twins? As soon as one of us is alone with the kidlets, this is the question we get.

Do you think he looks like his dad?

It's a Birthday Bonanza!

Sorry for the silence but I've been far too caught up in enjoying my birthday week, yes that's right, WEEK :)

My actual birthday is May 30th, which was Wednesday. Mom and Dad had arranged to take me out for lunch. When they arrived I ran down to answer the door to tell them that we had to wait a bit since Olan was still napping. Well who stepped out from beside the door and nearly caused me to have a birthday coronary? Alyson! She and Isabelle had flown in from Ottawa that very morning. I can't think of a single gift I would have liked better than that.

We had a great lunch, yummy greek. We parked Isabelle and Olan in highchairs next to each other and they kept each other entertained for the whole two hoursas we ate and ate and ate and talked and talked and talked. I think that I was still in shock at this point! I still can't believe that the whole family kept it a secret. Even Adam knew.

Since then we've just been having a good time. The kidlets are way more interested in each other than they've been on previous visits. When we sit them together they grab toys off one another and try to touch each others faces. It's a little dangerous but so sweet.

So thank you to everyone who sent me birthday wishes, sorry that I haven't responded but it has been out of control busy around here. Today is my official "party" so we're going to pick up Adam and Dad, who camped at the cottage property last night and then who knows? I'll try to keep everyone updated!
