the seal is cracked!

We had a wonderful cottage-opening weekend! The weather was sucky but who cares? The fact that it was sucky at cottage country across the land made it quite bearable. The black flies were fierce and Olan came to the realization that he was NOT a fan of them, thankfully we had a bug hat to keep him happy. He pottered and puttered and had a lot of fun. It was the perfect cottagey balance of relaxing and playing that we know, love & crave all winter long.

On our way home we stopped for sheep-shearing weekend at a favourite place of Olan's

We saw the baby pigs and chicks and went for a wagon ride. Olan was disgusted at the cows lying down with THEIR TAILS SITTING IN THEIR OWN POO! I didn't remind him that just a short while ago he too used to sit around in his poo :)

A huge success, we can't wait to do it again!

Excited to be heading to the lake

Grandpa unhooked the swing from its winter-storm perch waaaaaay up high in the tree

First cottage dinner of the season

Many, many, many stories were read…

Bug hat for the blackfly hater

Throwing rocks

Right before he took a spill

Grandpa getting everything going

Visiting a local greenhouse for a bug break

Comforting the shorn sheep who Olan thought were bare-naked

Being led off to the shearing shed

Rather complacently having his wool removed
That's "Tiny" on the left, a two-year-old pig who was just a little bit bigger than my two-year-old

"But I don't WANT to leave mommy"
"The biggest lolly that Olan has EVER seen!" (he ate all of two bites before passing out cold)
