Backhoe boy

Our neighbours are having some serious construction done and they've got backhoes, excavators, dumptrucks, all kinds of gear over there ripping things apart and making a big mess. Olan is in little boy heaven.

Last night he stood on the deck and watched the big backhoe (or excavator or whatever- according to my father I'm always calling them the wrong thing) for soooooo long. He eventually took one of his dinky cars and vrooomed it on the edge of the fence while he watched, trying to participate in whatever way he could. Then this morning the machines were all going by the time we got back from walking Sydney and I zoomed him as close as I could in the stroller. He just sat there, gripping the handle, totally transfixed.

Every now and then he'll say "baabo... scoop... man... drive... boom"

Halifax bank robber gets away with cash

A headline from our paper. What the article doesn't tell you is that I WAS THERE! I was arriving at the bank just as the robber was leaving!!! I got there before the police! My car could have been the getaway car! I parked right in front of the bank, some ruffian could have pulled me from my vehicle and sped off. It's a very fast looking car, I'm sure that any bank robber would have been tempted.

They still haven't caught the guy and they haven't told the public how much money he stole. He passed a note to the teller demanding money and then walked right out with it.

Very dramatic and exciting, very.

Congratulations Jareed!

Today Olan's godfather is graduating. Hooray!

I'm sure that the last two years have been tough for Jared and Katie but we look forward to hearing all about the new journey as they leave Pittsburgh and head west to San Francisco. Katie's family will be psyched to have them close(er) and everyone else will be psyched to have somewhere really cool to visit :)

So Congrats Jareed, we raise a glass and a sippie cup to you! Enjoy!

For all the moms

Happy Mother's Day!

I can only hope that all the momma's I know, love and admire had half the day I did. From Dad stumbling into my bedroom at 6:00 am to drag Olan out and let me sleep in, to the taste of blackened salmon I still have lingering in my mouth it was ALL that a mom could hope for.

I'm soooooo tired that I really can't type much so I'll let the pictures do most of the talking. The weather was crap so we packed up and headed to the New Ross farm. It was the perfect thing to do. Olan had a great time, saw lots of animals- some scary, some not- Dad learned how to make a barrel and Mom and I learned a lot of the history of the area (and she got some kick ass manure for her garden). Olan saw an ox being shod (he was extremely pissed off- the ox, not Olan) and in the process took quite a large poo. One of the young lads working there took a shovel and cleaned it up. Well half of Olan's conversation tonight was centered around "cow... moo... poo... shovel". Let's just say that it made QUITE an impression :)

What cha got in here?
