So Olan is a man on the move. He's no longer happy with sitting and watching the world go by. He wants so badly to be mobile but he just doesn't have the skills yet. He's most happy if I walk around behind him on my knees and hold him under the armpits so that he can practice walking. He hasn't quite grasped how to bend and pick something up yet so when you approach something on the floor that he wants to look at he just leans, his whole body stiff as a board and tries to pick it up. Hilarious. He's also trying some kind of weird crawl, when you sit him down he sort of shuffles to the side and tries to assume the crawling position but then he slips down flat on his tummy and waves his little arms and legs around like a flipped turtle.
We've been trying to keep busy since Aly & Isabelle left, he was so bored for the first couple of days. Today we went to the market with Mom and then out for a farewell brunch with Kayla who is just finishing up Katimavik. We went to Cora's, the last time I was there I was in labour... weird! Anyways, it's the perfect place to go with Olan. As soon as the set up his highchair they brought him a little complimentary bowl of cheerios, how nice is that? Plus, it's so bustly and busy that nobody was bothered by him throwing his toys on the floor. I must say though, he's such a good kid. We were there for about and hour and a half and he was good as gold in the highchair the whole time. After saying our goodbyes we went home and quickly changed and then we were off to a friends baby shower. It was really fun and again Olan was a prince, especially considering he'd napped for a total of about 20 minutes all day. He had fun playing with the other kids and I got to pat a preggo belly :) Now we're home, he's tucked into bed and I'm full of a delicious hamburger and spinach salad.
Here are the long awaited pictures of Olan in his little black hoodie, compliments of Jared and Katie. Just when you though he couldn't get cuter! You'll notice that he's wearing the hoody in the package opening pictures... it's a reenactment people!
