Happy St. Patrick's Day!

What a fun day!!! I started the day trying to explain what this day means to a two year old and ended it with delicious lamb burgers and potato pancakes and green milk! Olan seemed to really enjoy it all, especially the cupcakes with leprechauns and shamrock sprinkles :) His girlfriend gave him a cool new hat and he looked like quite the handsome little Irish Olan.

Cottage check-in

We did a little maple syruping this weekend and stopped in to check up on the cottage. Nothing makes this boy so happy as to go to the cottage.

In the car:
Olan: "are we going to the cottage mommy?"
Me: "yup"
Olan: "oh, that will make me SO happy!"

He dragged his sand toys out from under the cottage and pottered around, filling the dumptruck with snow, leapt around pretending to be a bunny, cooked up some imaginary pancakes and just generally had a fun time. He could have stayed forever.

Olan feet, trying to remember summer

First taste of maple sugar candy... sweet bliss

Scrubbing off the snow

Cottage stories, winter style. He's always so delighted to rediscover all his books and toys.

Carried in from the car and snuggled in front of a toasty fire, is there a nicer way to wake up?

Winter of the deer

Life out here in the burbs this winter has been like living in the zoo. We've had all manner of wildlife parading by; pheasants, deer, mean cats, a raccoon and a hawk. We started feeding the deer and its been wonderful! One morning there were SIX deer in the backyard, in full daylight!!! Olan has found it all exciting, though less so as time goes on. Now when you excitedly yell "look Olan, a DEER" he barely glances out the window and says "hmmm" or "yeah".

Olan so enjoys his stethoscope that his Gran brought him some little scrubs home from Ottawa. He delights in patrolling for sick people... and I must say that I hope that no doctor of mine ever looks so thrilled to hear I feel sick. :)

Is anyone sick?

Taking a break from curing the household to scarf down some salmon with his fun fork from Aunty Aly and Uncle G

Olan meets Oliver

Here was our first Skype call with Oliver. Olan decided he should play him a little "welcome to the fam" song.
