A passport lovefest

Busy couple of days, Olan and I did a bit more house hunting (nothing yet), had lunch with some other moms and babies and went and got our passport photos taken. Boy oh boy, who knew what we were walking into when we did that! Such a lovefest we encountered, I don't think that Olan has ever been so adored by people who aren't related to him. It turns out that this baby is the perfect passport model. He gave them his best concerned world traveller look and wowed them all :) I guess that most babies are screaming or drooling with their mouths hanging open. They took about 5 different shots they were having so much fun, I get to keep the extras. Olan seemed to enjoy all the attention. And before I left, they asked me for permission to use his photo for their documents, they have these diagrams showing how to pose babies. His first modelling gig :)

Wicked awesome godparents!

Olan would like to send out a great big slobbery (as all things are these days) thank-you to his godparents. They sent quite a care package for him, and US. How we get spoiled as the parents of the godchild I'm not sure, but I'll enjoy the treats none-the-less!

He loves the hoody, and who knew that he could be even more huggable than he already was? I wish that you were closer so that you could try it out. We weren't sure until we read the note if the coffee was for him or us, anyone who knows Jared wouldn't be sure what he would think was an appropriate time to start a coffee drinking career :) And the peppermint tea made the whole kitchen smell scrumdiddlyumptious. You guys are TOO much!

The stats

So.... out of a hundred baby boys Olan's age, only one is bigger and heavier than him :) That's right, he's in the 99th percentile for both height and weight. He seems so small to me! At least he's not off the charts... yet :)

He's now 27.5 inches long and 17 pounds, 11 ounces. I can't remember the circumference of his head because frankly I never find that part very interesting, maybe I would if he was one of those giant head kids... you know the kind I'm talking about.

So he had his next rounds of immunizations, and what a little trooper he was. Then the doctor told me that I need to let him cry at night because he should be sleeping through the night. Let him CRY I said? As if! ;)

Here's a picture of the little big man, my lord has he stolen our hearts.

Small Pica update

Well our little cat seems to be doing better. We picked him up at the clinic yesterday afternoon and brought him back to my parents for the night. They wanted to see if he would start eating once away from all the barking dogs and general chaos of the emergency centre. They left in his iv thingy so he has what looks like a giant purple cast on his leg and makes him limp around. BUT, all this to say that he IS eating. As soon as we offered him his beloved kibble he started munching! Hopefully things continue to improve from here.

Olan is off to the doctor for his four month appointment this morning. How did he grow up so fast??? I'll post his stats later on :)

Houses, houses and more houses

Another busy weekend of househunting in our household. You get to see some pretty entertaining things as you tour around other peoples' houses. There was the house we saw where they bred Bernese mountain dogs. All the floors were crooked and the house REEKED like a big soggy dog. Then there was the private sale where the owner, an older woman wearing black jodhpur pants and gold lamé heels, gave us her very personal tour, complete with extended version stories of every nook and cranny of the place before announcing her astronomical asking price in a whisper. Then there's the house with the midget basement. The basement ceiling had to be no more than 5'6 because I had to seriously duck, yet it was finished. There was a bar and a fireplace, etc. The ceiling wasn't dropped so it had always been that height. It was very puzzling... had there been a family of little people drinking and carousing down here? Then, late yesterday afternoon we saw a place that ended up being on the same small street that two of our friends have places on, one of which we were returning to that night for a dinner party. That would be weird, would people worry that we were taking over the neighborhood, some kind of cult or communal living situation?

We've seen some nice places too, but no magic tingle yet... and we need the magic tingle. We kind of worry that one of us will get it and the other not, but hopefully that won't happen. Usually we're on the same page with these things so I'm not TOO worried.

The only other news is that Pica is very sick, which is a big downer. He spent the night on IV fluids and antibiotics and the clinic last night. I'm hoping that we can pick him up today but they think that they'll need to keep him overnight again. Nobody seems to be able to figure out what's wrong, he's had bloodwork and xrays and they show nothing. Hopefully he'll make a complete recovery really, really soon. Keep your fingers crossed! Io is very sad without his brother :( And after Dennis passing away earlier in the week we can't handle any more trauma.
