One happy for each of the birthdays. Yesterday we had Canada and Brent and tomorrow we have Barb! We certainly celebrated Canada yesterday and I'm sure that the fam is celebrating in style on
Hermit Island for the other two. We are sad that we aren't there to celebrate with them, and to make them celebrate Canada day, but Olan should be ready to tackle the long drive and fierce mosquitos next year. I hope that everyone is blissfully sunned with tummies full of open fire cooked striped bass.
Olan and I went to the parade here. It was all marching bands and fanfare, he was, of course, delirious with excitement. So much to look at! For parts of the parade I had him up on my shoulders and for the big 100 million bagpipe ending when they do the old... do do do do do, do do do do do do do, do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do... you know ;) Olan was so still on my shoulders and his little hands just got a tighter and tighter grip on my hair. It was powerful.
Then we walked around and enjoyed the crowds before meeting up with Adam the golfer. Later that night we went to a bbq at a friend's place. Olan, the only child in attendance, was the life of the party, even until 3 hours past his bedtime when we finally carted him home. It was a potluck and everything was delicious. We took a vietnamese rice noodle salad but some of the memorable dishes were barbequed pineapple with the most insanely hot, hot sauce and a bean salad that knocked our socks off. I was feeding Olan while everything was being dished up and it was suggested by the host that I share Olan's supper, after all it was a potluck... maybe there could be a sign up sheet in the kitchen? Perverts.
Today we mostly lazed around and I packed for our trip to Ottawa. We did get out for one nice big walk and then the boys took one on their own a little while ago leaving me in bubble bath heaven. I don't know how much I'll be blogging since we'll be travelling around but I'll do what I can.
