We went and looked at this awesome house last night. Prepared the offer last night and our agent presented it this morning.
Well as you can guess from the title, it was REJECTED! Friggers.
I spent all night and day rearranging and decorating in my head. It was going to be QUITE a place, trust me :) And a beautiful guest room for all you visitors.
And yes, I do know that we'll find something and it will be even better, but whatever... this SUCKS!

Florida- in point form
Be warned that this post is not followed by pictures of us prancing through the surf. We do have lots of great pictures but most of them are on my parents laptop. They should be back by the weekend so once I get them I'll put them up. We only have our pictures from the last day and it seems silly to just show you those.
I broke my points into two categories: One time deal and Every day if you want to. I think that they're pretty self-explanatory :) I'm sure that I've forgotten a kabillion things but whatever, I'm not perfect.
One time deal:
-- Getting to have a surprise visit with Isabelle and Alyson. That is one sweet little girl, and despite Olan's tears at her screeching, he thinks so too :) She is such a bubbly, happy, beautiful little girl and is starting to look SO much like Alyson. It kind of freaked me out sometimes, just an expression on her face, or the way her head was tilted. Adam and I especially love the way she reaches for things with her hands and feet, hilarious! It's bittersweet having just a couple of days because it makes you want MORE!
-- Kayaking in the lagoon through a pod of dolphins. One even cleared the air and smashed down on his side making a huge splash. I felt like I was in a movie, and isn't that what everyone wants?
-- Dinner at JB's fish camp. I ordered the Turtle Mound which was a tray piled with steamed crabs, oysters, clams, rock shrimp and regular shrimp. Two different kinds of dipping butter and lemon. And a cob of corn. So, so delish. Gran gave Olan his first dill pickle which he happily sucked away on during dinner.
-- The outlet mall... need I say more? We could have used more time, Mom and I swear that there must be some kind of time warp in Ralph Lauren. Olan was a good little shopper and was delighted to have his bum changed in a posh changeroom while Gran pranced in and out with a fashion show.
-- Boogie boarding. So much fun. I have no idea how surfers ride the truly massive waves. I got caught off guard by one wave and it totally sucked me in, flipped me over and over and I ended up with my bathing suit bottoms around my ankles, sand up my nose and a burning throat from all the salt water that went up my nose! But so fun.
-- Meeting Adam's brother Matt and his new bride, Carrie. It was nice to finally put a face to a name after all these years! Olan enjoyed being made a fuss of by more Aunts and Uncles, the more the better as far as he's concerned! We had a great visit and a nice meal together. As always, the stories abounded!
-- Going to a real surf competition. It was wild, just like in Blue Crush. It was really cool to see, and the plethora of hotties certainly didn't hurt ;)
-- Leather skin lady sitting by the pool reading "How to create a life worth living". I mean, you're on vacation lady, this is time to just LIVE life. Meanwhile my wet head is sprawled across my lounge chair, I'm babyless for the next half hour, dark chocolate m&m's melting in my mouth, light funny chick novel in my hands. Oh look over here lady, I'll show you how it's done :)
Every day if you want to:
-- Falling asleep listening to the surf pounding. I didn't mind waking up to feed Olan in the night either, just sitting there hearing the waves and feeling that soft night air... so sweet.
-- Walking on the endless beach any old time you wanted to.
-- Collecting shells and the eternal search for a perfectly intact conch. Didn't happen :(
-- Soft summery air, SO SOFT. I didn't even care if it was windy or not because it always felt so damn nice.
-- Padding around in your bathing suit and bare feet. Such freedom from all the eternal layers of home.
-- Seeing Adam padding around in flippies and shorts looking so relaxed and happy. Now I'm not saying that he wasn't stressed about something in his head, but you couldn't tell from outward appearances :)
-- Having so much help with Olan. So nice to hear "why don't I take Olan, and you go laze around by the pool".
-- Seeing Olan with his grandparents. Man, does he LOVE them. Big slobbery kisses all over Dad and such big smiles as he tried to catch their eye when either of them would enter the room. Such a sweet sight.
-- Swimming, swimming, swimming. Especially with Olan, who adored the taste of pool water :(
-- Letting Olan be naked, all the time. Nobody loves to be naked like that boy and it was so nice to just let him. Mom and I loved just laying him out on a towel after he swam just to let him BE. No blankets and socks and hats and layers. Being able to grab his soft little feet, legs, arms, tummy anytime I like without needing to undress him first was heavenly.
-- Just chillin'. Family friends Martha and John were staying in the same building so we had lots of nice relaxing nights with a bottle of beer or a glass of wine. Good times.
-- The food, oh the food. Everyone who knows my mom, knows that she's an awesome cook so it won't be a surprise that we ate well. Some tasty delights that come to mind are: The daily catch from Adam or my Dad, huge shrimp as big as my head, yummy grapefruit, dark chocolate m&m's and Ben and Jerry's pistachio.
-- Feeding Olan under the shade of a palm tree in our swimsuits with the soft, soft wind ruffling our hair.
