It started with Richard, Claire and Jacob coming over for a pizza dinner on Friday. It was nice to see them and just hang out and relax. Richard has been doing a crazy commute all winter so we haven't seen much of them. Olan was only up for about an hour after they arrived, just enough time to say hello and be admired for being so darn cute. He then went to bed and somehow slept through all the loud and crazy behaviour that followed. Good boy!
Saturday we went for a big walk and then dragged over to the grocery store to fight our way to the front of the lines. Because of the holiday closures and the impending storm I think that everyone in the city jammed themselves into the two stores we needed to go to... it was crazy. Later in the afternoon, Adam went over to a friends to watch the Masters in all its HD glory. He came home before it was over so that he could share a bit of the fun with Olan. Olan, as it turns out, loves to watch golf. He quietly sat there on the couch with Adam. Every once in a while he would look up at Adam, Adam would look at him and smile and then he would turn back to the TV. Hilarious, but scary. At this point the snow had begun and didn't stop until the wee hours of the morning.

Sunday we got up and stumbled to the window... yuck, so much snow! What kind of Easter is that? Good thing the Easter Bunny has those big floppy feet, just like snowshoes.

Meredith was trapped in Bedford. She waited for the snowplow man as long as she could before taking matters into her own hands and charging down the driveway, full steam ahead! Don't keep that girl from her Easter breakfast :) Soon we were all cooking up a storm. We had a couple of friends over and luckily Kayla (my cousin) was able to be sprung from Katimavik under the guise of going to church. She was in desperate need of meat, chocolate and mimosas. Breakfast was yummmy... waffles, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, smoked bacon, sausage, mimosas and a big bowl of delicious fruit. Then we had our traditional Canadian Tire money hunt. Meredith cleaned up, Cody came in last. Olan and I watched from the sidelines lest we get injured in the fray! Nothing brings out the competitive spirit like Canadian Tire money.

After laying around like beached whales we took Kayla back and cleaned up. We called Mom and Dad and heard about the surf fishing and "cold" temperatures. Poor Dad had to put PANTS on! Cry me a river people, cry me a river! Then Adam went back to HDland and Meredith babysat while I did some book covers for work.

Good times, good times. I hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend too!

I LOVE "Little Easter Boy"...he's sooo adorable! But what exactly is Canadian Tire Money? (We Yanks only run around looking for jelly beans & eggs that the Easter Bunny has left) As for Olan loving golf...I think everyone knew that would happen :)
Canadian Tire is a hardware store chain. When you buy something, you get Canadian Tire money with your change. It's some kind of percentage of your purchase amount. Anyways, you can then use your Canadian Tire money to purchase whatever you want at Canadian Tire (and we have a video store here that takes it as well).
It is in no way a traditional Canadian thing to do, most people are all about the chocolate eggs. Adam and I started doing it a few years ago. We were hosting brunch and decided that we should have some kind of hunt, we had no chocolate, and ta-da the Canadian Tire money hunt was born. It was such a success that we've continued it every year since then.
I have no idea who left that comment... but hopefully I've cleared things up for you!
How did Kayla explain the chocolate etc she "found" at church!! It is getitng warmer in Florida for those of you who are concerned lest garth never get out of his long pants!
